Welcome to “Musings from the Avenue”, our new weekly commentary about marketing trends, our comings and goings around Maryland and other insightful tidbits we want to share with our clients and friends.

As Kalix Communications continues its exciting growth, we feel blessed to call the Avenue in Hampden our home. Our offices are housed in a beautifully restored historic stone church, with a cornerstone dating to 1899. Located on the corner of West 36th Street (a.k.a. the Avenue) and Hickory, we find ourselves nestled on a thriving commercial street that is at the heart of the Hampden renaissance.

This past September, Forbes Magazine named Hampden to its list of “American Hipster Neighborhoods” with a ranking of #15. Now, if we have to define “hipster” for you, then you must not be that “hip”.

As small business owners, we relish the idea of growing our new integrated marketing agency in the heart of a small business mecca.

With its diverse collection of restaurants, fashion boutiques, antique stores and a few really strange retail establishments (we are still trying to figure out what they sell), we’ve found our new home. We hope you take some time in early 2013 to give us a call and stop by our new home, here on the Avenue in Hampden, Maryland.
