Sometimes things work out just the way they’re supposed to. And thankfully that’s been the case for me. After about a year of working on my own to build Wiltrout Marketing, a higher education brand consultancy, I realized it just wasn’t for me.

I missed working with liked-minded professionals tasked with advancing their institution. I missed being part of a creative, collaborative team that understands the value of integrated marketing and branding. And, I missed the energy and camaraderie of being on a college campus.

Fortunately, I got all that and more when I accepted the position of Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) in Fort Myers, Florida. FGCU is simply amazing. Beyond the beautiful campus (i.e. private lakefront beach, coconut trees and all) and stellar Southwest Florida location, as the 10th state university in Florida, FGCU has grown and prospered at breakneck speed since it opened its doors in 1997. And now, FGCU is ready to tout the outcomes of all that hard work and dedication. And that’s where I come in.

I’ve only been on campus for about a week, but it’s pretty clear to me that there is something special going on here and with the support of the FGCU community and my marketing and communications team, we’re going to be able to do some pretty interesting things to highlight the amazing work that’s being done every day at Florida Gulf Coast University. Stayed tuned.
