When you’re looking for a good restaurant, whose advice do you follow? For most diners, the Zagat logo in a restaurant window is proof positive of a reliable choice.
The Zagat Survey was established in 1979 by two successful New York lawyers, Time & Nina Zagat. After informally surveying their friends as to which restaurants they preferred, they expanded the concept to provide a forum wherein thousands of people could offer feedback regarding their dining experiences. Based upon collective recommendations, placement in the Zagat Survey, with its signature slim burgundy cover, has become a restaurant’s mark of distinction. The Zagat Survey considers multiple factors in determining whether a restaurant qualifies for inclusion; food, décor, service and cost are at the top of the list.
With so many Shore eateries represented in the survey, Zagat saw fit to release a separate “New Jersey Shore Restaurants” guide covering Ocean, Monmouth, Atlantic and Cape May counties.
