1994 - Present: Synthesis Incorporated Principal
Responsible for managing planning, feasibility analysis, scheduling, budgeting, design, permitting, and construction for the projects of non-profit, institutional and commercial clients.
1998 - 1999: Zenon Environmental Systems Senior Project Manager
Responsible for providing project design, implementation, coordination and construction management services for environmental projects in North and South America. Projects included site planning, equipment layout, specification of mechanical equipment, and control systems, cost estimating and scheduling. Overall activities required coordination with owner / customer, design team, contractors, and start-up — all in a multicultural environment.
1992 - 1998: Paques Environmental Technology Manager, Engineering and Projects
Responsible for application engineering and overall facility planning and layout, architectural design, contractor negotiations, construction monitoring, scheduling and budgeting for environmental facilities in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela. Contributed to proprietary product improvements, and responsible for developing manuals, design guidelines and inspection and commissioning procedures for use by consulting engineers, contractors and customers. Extensive experience in planning, preparation of scopes of work and bidding documents, basic engineering, P&I Diagrams, equipment and building lay-outs, equipment specifications and budgeting.
1985 - 1990: Synergics, Inc. Manager, Construction and Operations
Responsible for the planning, cost estimating, implementation, construction and management of renewable and cogeneration energy facilities throughout the U.S. Directly responsibility for the management of 12 hydroelectric facilities and all related construction/renovation projects. Planned and developed 25,000 square foot corporate office and commercial building on Main Street in Annapolis. Responsible for programming, budgeting, design management of architects, engineers and interior designers, permitting, selection of materials of construction, contract negotiations, interior build-out, and leasing.
1983-1985, 1990-1992: Hedden Group, Ltd. Founding Principal
Founding Principal of engineering consulting practice specializing in the development, design, construction, troubleshooting and performance improvement of buildings and energy producing facilities. Qualified as expert witness in judicial proceedings. Worked on a project-by-project basis with energy production companies and consulting engineering groups in both domestic and international sectors. Designed and constructed a utility connected photovoltaic power plant on the eastern shore of Maryland, developed two hydroelectric plants in New York, provided consulting services for US AID funded 200 kW solar powered ice making plant in Egypt.
1974 - 1982: Mueller Associates, Inc. Associate Principal
Responsible for the planning, design and construction of HVAC, renewable and cogeneration energy projects and environmental studies. Program management responsibility during project feasibility analysis, evaluation, cost estimating, design, implementation, and specification. Directed a professional staff of 25. Responsible for equipment selection, system layout, detail design, shop drawing review, commissioning, and punch-out. Projects included mechanical, HVAC, energy, and electrical systems for commercial, institutional and governmental facilities.
